Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House

Friday morning we drove out to the new Oquirrh Mountain Temple for the open house. Steve and the girls have never been to a temple open house, so I thought it would be a great opportunity to go. It was a great teaching oportunity for us to teach the girls about what happens in the temple.

Day One Part 2-Utah Lake

Alright-so it had been raining off and on throughout the day, so I really didn't think we would go boating until my brother Jon called me up at 5pm and said, "We goin boating?" I said "Sure"-not really thinking he was serious. He said to meet at his house. We hung up and I had to call back to really make sure he was serious-and he was. Mind you-it was still raining. Anyhow, we got to Jon and Kim's house in Draper then stopped at Jeremy's to get the big tube. Got on the freeway at Bangerter and the freeway is stopped at the point of the mountain ALL the way past AF Center Street. Lovely! So what normally would take about 15 minutes-took quite a bit longer. Still raining at this point. By the time we get to the lake it's about 7pm and there were clouds all around. Jon kept saying-it's going to pass-just wait-blue skies are ahead. We were all thinking "yeah right Jon". Well, we pull up to the dock and it's still not blue skies and it's raining. We wait for a few minutes for the rain to "pass through". Before it stopped raining, Steve & Jon got out and got the boat all ready. Jon was determined that we were going and the rain would pass. Sure enough, right as we were getting the boat in the lake, it stopped raining and a double rainbow appeared. The kids were so excited to see a full double rainbow. We had so much fun on the tube and the kids loved playing in the water. Steve and I got a chance to drive the boat too. That's alot of fun. I was a little nervous though-but still had fun. The water was actually really warm. I was suprised. Anyhow, thank you Jon and Kim and Family for sharing your boat with us. It was so much fun!! I have just attached a bunch of pictures from the outing. Kinda in random order.

Halle and Natalee out swimming by the boat. The kids goofing off as we were being eaten by mosquitos as we wiped down the boat.

All done for the night.

Halle-she just lost her front tooth a few days prior

Halle, Katie, Natalee-Halle was TETRIFIED to go boating. She seriously thought that she was going to die at the lake because of a news story she had seen. She screamed and cried and didn't want to go AT ALL. I was such a mean mom and made her come to the lake with us anyway-knowing that she would have a good time. And.....She loved it!
Katie, Lizzie, Steve-We were the first ones out. Lizzie had no fear. She was ready. Well, we got going and we were out on the tube for a bit and Lizzie was ready to get back in the boat. She didn't like going so fast, well, when Jon started to slow down, the tube started to go underwater forward. I grabbed onto Lizzie's hand to pull her out from under the tube. She was being pulled under the tube and I was trying to pull her out. I just let go of her and Jon went to turn the boat around. Lizzie popped up and Steve and I went right to Lizzie. She was a little shaken and scared, and I actually was a little too. I'm pretty scared of lake's myself, but I was trying not to show it. Anyhow, Lizzie was completely done after that. No more water for her. She did say she had fun though.

Steve's first time in the driver seat and he just about throws Jon off the back because he gunned it instead of killed it. It was kinda funny.

Day One Adventures

We flew into SLC on Wednesday night around 10:45pm. We helped a mom of 4 boys under 6 get her luggage and helped her to the rental car with all the car seats and luggage she had, so by the time we left the airport it was about 11:15 or so. We got to Mom and Dads and visited a few minutes with Mom and then we headed to bed.

One of the luxories of staying at Mom and Dads house is that we always get to sleep in a King Size bed. SOOO nice. Steve has been begging me to get a King Size, but I can't just give up my queen size bedroom set yet. We have a few rooms to choose from when we come. It's nice. Mom and Dad have it all ready for us when we come.

Steve played on the computer.

Lizzie played with the Barbies and Lego's

Halle played the Wii.

Katie played the piano.

A little later on around lunch time, we decided to talk a walk up the street a couple blocks to Country Care-the assisted living that mom and dad built. Aunt LeeAnna was working so we thought we would get out and enjoy the nice weather.

After we had a Popsicle at country care, we started walking home. The clouds came in and it started to rain so we all quickly made it home. It was so much fun. It was awesome being out in the rain and having it be nice and cool. Dad has a Hibiscus plant in the Dining room by his desk. In the morning it was all closed up. By the time we got back from our walk, it was all bloomed.

The view from the back porch. The field surrounded by the white fence is where the horses are. We will ride horses on Saturday the 4th. Notice how green it is. It's great. A new post for the afternoon adventure is needed. We've had so much fun so far.
